Chapter 13

Harlow shut the door and frantically looked around the room. She located a wooden chair perched at a child’s desk and snagged it. It was just barely big enough, but if she propped it up just right it would serve as a makeshift lock. “I can’t believe my parents waited up for us.”

Jacki moved to the dresser and pulled off her earrings, placing them delicately on the painted surface. “Thank god they didn’t wait up for Tanya and Rick.”

“Oh my god, yes.”

Her parents had yawned, announced that Rylee and Kiley were tucked away in Tanya’s old bedroom, and then they headed off to bed themselves. Tanya’s old room also sported a set of twin beds outfitted in kiddie-themed bedding. Her parents’ obsession with having child-size sleepover furniture was a major drag. Harlow stared at the two miniscule beds that sat a few feet apart in the middle of her own room.

Before she could move to rectify that situation, Jacki shifted into her line of sight. She stepped forward and slid her arms around Harlow’s waist. “I want to finish what we started back at the bar.”

Harlow did, too. But she wanted to make sure Jacki wouldn’t regret whatever happened next. She slipped a lock of Jacki’s silky hair through her fingers. “Are you absolutely sure?”

“Thanks for asking, but I know what I want.” Jacki leaned forward and pressed her lips to Harlow’s. It wasn’t sweet or soft. It was hard and demanding.

The kiss ignited a raging fire within Harlow. Something visceral that lived deep down inside her crawled up to the surface and took hold of her body. The fingers that had been gently caressing Jacki’s hair slid through them to cup her head. Her other hand drifted down to grip Jackie’s hip, pressing into her soft flesh.

Just as she thought her mind had no room for anything more than Jacki’s lips on hers, Jacki’s tongue touching hers, and the feel of Jacki’s body beneath her hands, Jacki’s palms flattened on her stomach and ran up her torso. They didn’t stop when they reached the swell of Harlow’s breasts. Those small, perfect hands cupped her, pressing into her hard nipples in a way that shot sensation straight down to Harlow’s clit.

A low moan emitted from her throat as she pushed Jacki back onto the bed. The twin mattress was small enough that she had no choice but to swing one leg over so she was kneeling on either side of Jacki’s hips. She pulled back from their searing kiss to look down at the woman beneath her.

Harlow was about to ask again if this was okay. The words were nearly out of her mouth when Jacki’s lips pulled up into a sensuous smile. Harlow had never seen an expression like it on Jacki’s face before. But there was no question in her mind what it meant. And if there had been, Jacki’s words wiped it away. “I got you right where I’ve been wanting you for so long.”
