When Morgan sashayed her delicious, full hips—that I now had the pleasure of knowing up close and personal—through the coffee shop door in the morning, I couldn’t hold back the wide smile that took up residence on my face. Not only because she looked more delicious than the freshly baked cranberry orange scones filling my pastry case, but also because, even though she looked bright and fresh, she was wearing the same clothes as the night before, which meant she hadn’t gone back to her place. There was a unique high that came with the knowledge that the sassy redhead who had fallen apart between Ryder and me less than twelve hours prior had rolled right out of our bed to come get her daily fix.

And it managed to warm my heart as well as something much farther south.

She slid onto the stool across the counter from me with the slightest wince. Equal measures of pride and concern flooded through me at the sight. “You good there, Wilde?”

Darting her eyes from one side of my shop to the other, making sure no one was within earshot, she leaned forward. “Word to the wise… The ideas one has in the throes of a hot threesome usually don’t include considering the morning after.” She gave me a salacious smile. “Not that I would change one second of it… I just need to have a bit more padding beneath me before I decide to plop into a seat.”

“Good to know.” The worries I’d initially had faded into nothing—well, almost nothing—with her reassurances. I turned and began brewing her standard request.

I passed her the extra-large drink and shamelessly watched as she took the first sip, closing her eyes in delight with a barely audible moan of pleasure. Morgan had a way of enjoying the smallest things in life, and I had quickly become enamored with witnessing her almost childlike delight. It was one of the first things I had fallen in love with about her and over the years since then that list has grown exponentially, but it still remained at the very top.

She tapped her nails on the brown, rippled paper cup. “Since you’re my boyfriend now, does that mean I get free coffee?”

I snorted as I pulled a muffin from the case and put it on a plate in front of her. “When was the last time you paid for anything here?”

That delightful shade of pink that was another of my favorite things blossomed on her cheeks. “I pay with my sparkling personality and witty humor.”

I ran a finger along the arm she had resting on the countertop. Kissing and touching in public had been part of the arrangement we’d made—that I desperately hoped she’d abandon in light of our new reality—but showing affection in front of strangers was much different to people I had to face every day. It wasn’t something I cared about in the slightest letting everyone know, but I wanted to be careful to respect her wants and boundaries.
