Soon Astrid and Downs had joined the others.

Astrid quickly summarized the events that had unfolded, giving the group her perspective. “Downs can give you his version later. Now we have to do something about those remaining escape ships.” She paused a moment, then added, “Captain Dor?”

Dor’s voice came in through the bay’s speakers. “Welcome back.”

“Thanks, any suggestions?”

“Affirmative. There’s a large shuttle in one of the starboard bays. It has a cargo bay with sufficient capacity to hold both of those escape craft. It’s also well armed, with a gun turret on the dorsal surface. Also, it carries four missiles. Our radio contact with the escape craft has been intermittent, but I have informed them that someone will join them soon to render aid.”

“You don’t trust these guys in the escape craft, do you?”

“No,” Dor said, “I don’t.”

“Okay,” Astrid said, “just conducting a little reality-check.”

Dor nodded. “Our provisional plan is to pick them up. They might be willing to help us. But I’m going to discuss matters with Captain Banning in detail. I’ll let you know if there is a change in plans.”
