Something tickled Coltâs nose, yanking him from sleep. With as long as it had taken him to relax enough to doze off, he was far from ready to be awake.
Annoyed, he rubbed at his nose without opening his eyes. His fingers encountered something soft, and his eyes popped open. It was her hair tickling his nose. He suddenly didnât mind at all. All of his irritation at being awakened faded in an instant.
A drowsy smile crept on his face. At some point in the night, Grace had curled against him. Her head rested on his chest, directly over his heart. He cautiously smoothed down her hair, successfully getting it out of his face before it caused him to sneeze and spoil the moment he was enjoying. He was far from ready to relinquish the contact with her. Holding her like this felt right. He wanted to wake up with her in his arms like this every morning for the rest of his life.
Grace sighed against his chest, her breath fanning out over his bare skin. Goosebumps prickled in its wake. He abruptly became aware that her leg was hooked over his hips when she shifted slightly. Her leg brushed against his rapidly hardening dick, and he barely stifled a groan.
Well, he was definitely awake now. Every single part of him was.
She shifted again, this time her arm, and he realized with regret that she was waking up too. He stroked his fingers up and down over the soft flesh of her arm as she slowly awakened.
âMorning, Trouble,â he said huskily as she moved her head to his shoulder and blinked up at him. God, he loved that drowsy look on her.
âUm, good morning.â A slow smile spread onto her lips. âHmm, doesnât seem like I did so good keeping my hands to myself.â
He chuckled. âNope.â
âYou donât seem to mind.â
âNope.â It was taking every bit of his self-control to resist rolling her onto her back to get another taste of her mouth. To not strip his shirt off of her and spend the morning buried deep inside her, making her cry out his name.
He sucked in a ragged breath as her fingers skimmed over his chest. This was hell. Complete hell.
She pulled her leg off of him, inadvertently brushing against his dick again in the process. This time, he couldnât hold back his groan.
She froze, her eyes darting to his. âColtâ¦â she breathed.
They stared at each other.
His breaths came faster as his heart pounded beneath her hand.
He needed to sit up and get the hell off the bed before his control snapped again, but he couldnât. Her pupils dilated, and her lips parted. There was no mistaking the hunger in her gaze.
Fuck, he wanted her. How was he supposed to keep resisting with her looking at him like that?
âWe shouldnât,â he grated out.
âSo youâve said.â She smiled sweetly then pressed a kiss to his chest.
He knew right then that heâd lost not just the battle but the whole damn war. It was over.
