Jane had received a letter from her husband that morning. While sitting at the breakfast table as she read, she shared a few snippets with Elizabeth.

“He writes to say that the girls remain with their grandparents.” She read some more. “His arrival is delayed once again.” In the letter, Jane was encouraged to remain in town and enjoy her time with her sister. And, so it was. Jane put the letter aside as she raised her cup to her lips to sip her tea. She seemed, to her sister, completely unaffected by the news.

Having received another missive from Darcy, Elizabeth, too, perused the contents of her letter. She read silently.
