“You did great back there,” Beau said as he parked the truck in front of his house. Noah nodded slowly and hoped Beau would get on with it and that whatever it was wouldn’t be too awkward or painful.

“Thanks. I appreciate the ride and the...moral support,” Noah attempted.

“No problem.” Beau’s hands tightened around the wheel and he muttered a mouthful of curses under his breath before he flashed Noah a smile. “So... Things with you and Kieran seem to be going really well and are moving quickly,” he said. Noah’s head pushed forward as he considered.

“He did spend a few weeks running away from me.”

“Can’t blame him, though,” Beau said and Noah shook his head.

“Not at all. I literally can’t stand touching anyone other than Kieran, so it’s kind of a no-brainer for me.”

“There is that. What’s in it for Kieran?” Beau asked.

“I’m pretty sure the answer is love,” Noah said as he rubbed his chin and Beau rolled his eyes.

“You push Hal away because you think you’re a burden. What’s to stop you from pushing Kieran away?” He asked and Noah paused.

“Oh. That is a good question.” His brows pulled together and he wondered if love was enough. How could Noah know what Kieran needed if he didn’t know how deep his wounds were?

“Did I mess this up?” Beau asked warily.

“What? No,” Noah said and shook his head. “I know what to do.” He didn’t want to do it but he would. Eventually. He pulled his jacket tighter around him and clenched his jaw as he shivered.

“Are you ok?”

“Yup. And Kieran and I were made for each other,” Noah said simply then cut his eyes at Beau. “Why? Did Hal put you up to this? Is he worried?” He accused and Beau opened his mouth to argue then snapped it shut.

“Maybe.”

“We’re fine. I’m fine. Was there anything else?” Noah asked. Beau squeezed an eye shut as he debated then shook his head.

“Nope. Go on.”

“Thanks. I’m glad we had this talk,” Noah said sarcastically. Beau rolled his eyes as he got out and waved at Noah as he headed for his front door.

“Later.” He was laughing as he let himself in the house. Noah hummed and pondered what Beau was really up to. Hal was the one who put the nonsense about Noah pushing him and Kieran away into Beau’s head. But Hal didn’t put Beau up to it so what was his motive? Noah pondered it until a heavenly aroma tickled his nose. It was coming from his casita and Noah’s mouth watered as he climbed his steps. Noah filled his sinuses with the scent as he floated into the house and sighed in delight.

“What is that?” He asked dreamily as he fell back against the door. Kieran laughed as he took off his pot holders and dropped them on the island.

“I made lasagna and garlic bread but I just took the pan out of the oven. We need to let it rest for a bit,” he warned but Noah was glad they had a little time before he hurt himself with cheese and pasta.
