MUTINY

CHAPTER 9

Immortal child Lamech once made

Unkown to him the blood he gave

For there were howls by light of moon

The beast it came was near his doom

The blood it mingled in dying man

To take the ship is now the plan

Lamech was tormented by being denied blood for three more days before he broke.

“Lamech, my name is Lamech.” He said weakly.

“The Lamech? Of course! It makes sense now. That is how you overcame the slave during the trance. You are the elder. In fact, you are the oldest of all, if the tales are true. What fortune has smiled upon me?” The undead ship captain said with a wide grin.

“Come now, answer a few more questions, and I will let you have a taste, just enough to whet your lips and your parched tongue. Were you alone, or were other vampires with you?”

Maldivar held one of the slaves before Lamech. He grasped the prisoner around the throat while looking over his left shoulder so that he could prevent the older vampire from controlling the zombie-like man. While Lamech’s blisters and burns had healed, he was weaker than before. Six days without blood.

Maldivar smiled as he watched the weary struggle within Lamech. “Here, let’s make this more tempting.”

Maldivar took one pointed fingernail and dragged it down the side of the entranced man’s neck, creating a shallow wound that now ran with blood.

Lamech’s eyes grew wide as he struggled against his chains. His head sagged. “Yes,” he croaked.

“Ah, that is better. You see how much better this is when we can have a conversation between two immortals like this?” Maldivar brought up one wrist of the sailor and bit it. He took a few draughts before presenting the weeping wound to Lamech.

Lamech was wild-eyed, with the blood only an inch away from his lips. Maldivar made him lick it like a dog.

“That’s enough. I will give you more if you answer all of my questions. Where are they? How many were there?”

“Only one other vampire was on board. We were headed to Greece, but our ship caught fire and exploded. The other is dead.” Lamech sobbed as recalled the painful memory.”

“This other, was close to you? One you turned, perhaps even your mate?”

Lamech looked up with weary eyes.

“And you are quite certain they died are you?”

Lamech seemed to ponder over the question before answering, “The explosion was so violent that I do not think even one of our kind could have survived.”

“Ah, yes, very unlikely, but I saw it happen once. I had dismembered a vampire, one that I had turned in fact. You see, I had the idea to create a coven that would be loyal to me and together we would hunt down the other vampires and destroy them. But this undead child of mine betrayed me. He turned them all against me. I was banished from my own coven. I returned with help and the others fled, except the traitor. After we battled and he was defeated. I cast the parts about the room.
