âJordan and spaghetti sauce. Thatâs a disaster just waiting to happen,â Justin quipped.
Jordan looked down at his nice dress shirt. âYeah, I think Iâll change that to a burger and fries,â he said.
âMake that two,â Justin said.
âThree,â Catherine added.
âFour,â Stephanie said.
âYou really are a team, arenât you?â Agent Carlson smiled.
âHey, you can never go wrong with a burger and fries,â Jordan said. âUnless you make it even better by adding a milkshake.â
âAnd how about a round of milkshakes with those burgers,â Carlson told the waitress. He looked at the four kids. They all looked at each other, smiled, and yelled âChocolate!â at the same time.
The waitress nodded and headed off to the kitchen to place their order.
âDid they catch Hassan and his buddies?â Justin asked.
âIâm afraid not,â the agent said. âHassan works for the GIS, which is kind of like our CIA. Iâm sure they wonât do anything to him. In fact, he might even have been acting on direct orders from his superiors. When you are talking about a hundred billion dollars, people will do some pretty bad things to get their hands on it.â
âHow did the GIS even find out about the will?â Jordan asked.
âWeâre looking into that,â Carlson replied. âIn fact, itâs one of the reasons the FBI is still involved in this case. As far as I know, the will hasnât been publicized, so the fact that the GIS knows about it is troubling.â
âSo, whatâs next?â Stephanie asked.
âWeâre kind of back to square one,â Carlson responded. âThe only thing I brought back with me from Egypt was a fractured radius bone.â
âThis doesnât have anything to do with the Great Pyramid, does it?â Justin asked.
The agent shook his head. âI thought it did at first, and Hassan and his friends must have agreed or else they wouldnât have abducted me. But Iâve had some time to think about it since then and I think there might have been some misdirection in the will.â
âWhat do you mean?â Stephanie asked.
âWell, we know that Willard Howell was a genius. Some thought he was a little eccentric, but there was no question that he was also very smart. I think he meant to leave us clues to the money in his will, but he didnât want it to be too easy to find.â
âJustin thinks that maybe there are clues to an account number and password hidden in the will,â Catherine said.
âHe just might be right,â the agent said. âAnd thatâs where I hope you four can help.â He pulled several sheets of paper from the inside pocket of his coat.
âIs that the will?â Jordan asked.
âIt is. Itâs only two pages, so thereâs not much to go on, but I made a copy for you. If anyone can figure out the clues, itâs the Math Kids.â
The four friends lit up with the excitement of a new problem to solve.
âWould we really be billionaires if we solve it?â Justin asked.
âIâm sure there will be lots of lawyers involved, but if the will is valid, and you four solve it first, I guess itâs possible,â Agent Carlson said.
