CHAPTER 11
Elysium was empty. The workers were installing the props for the night performance. It was early afternoon, and Marko lit a cigar and poured himself a drink.
It was good to be back in London. With the new business rolling, the money pouring in, with all the publicity, he was finally achieving success. It would only get bigger, he was sure.
And then there was yesterdayâs party.
And Blancheâ¦
Someone called his name and nodded at the entrance.
There she was again. As if by magic.
Blanche Carey.
Heâd wanted her to comeâwilled her in his mind. He didnât realize heâd missed her so much until he saw her again the night before.
Today she looked dazzling. He walked over to greet her, and the closer he got, the louder his heart boomed.
She was beautiful but in a different wayâbesides all her charms there was this new confidence that made her irresistible. But her eyes didnât change. Of the most lovely blue, they threw the most powerful glances at him and shone with sadness. There was a strange melancholy in them despite the smile that played on her full lips.
Those lipsâ¦
âHello, Blanche,â he said as he approached her.
âMarko.â She nodded with a smile as her voice caressed the deepest part of his heart.
She smelled of expensive perfume, and he had an urge to kiss her on the cheek so he could get the true scent of herâhis Blancheâthat was hidden beneath her lavish dress, her expensive jewelry and her bonnet with feathers.
She liked brandy, heâd noticed the night before. Too much of it, actually.
Was she nervous?
He made her a drink and saw her fumble with it.
She was.
It made him smile.
âDid I already tell you that you look bewitching?â
âDid you even look?â
Oh, sweet thing, you have no idea.
She looked gorgeous. Older. Calmer. Hourglass figure. She knew how to use her curves, too. Those curves⦠And flawless creamy skin.
And the lips.
God, her lipsâhe wanted to lick them, suck them, bite them. He wanted to strip her naked and see what she was like. Five years ago she was an innocent young girl. Now she was truly a woman, and she knew the strength of it.
Heâd been in love with her back then, on Baker Street, he knew. Obsessed even. But when he saw her the other night, the images of her spun in his head all night long until later at night, when Elysium was closed and he made it home, he masturbated to the memories of herâher wet sex grinding on his fingers, her lips so close to his. Those lipsâheâd dreamt of them. How many women heâs screwed and not a single one had the intensity heâd felt with Blanche back on Baker Street.
He was glad that now they were in Elysiumâhis Elysiumâso she could see what heâd achieved. And with the establishment closed, the atmosphere seemed almost intimate. He had her all to himself.
He went around the counter and walked up to her, too close, deliberately, so that when they talked, he could watch her reaction, notice her every tiny move.
