Chapter 11: Crossing Boundaries

Ellie

“We’re home,” I heard someone tell me, but I couldn’t quite register who it was.

I must have fallen asleep in the car. All I knew was that someone was cradling and carrying me. However, even in that state, I was aware that I was safe. My eyes were way too heavy to open, so I just grunted and dosed off.

The feeling of strong arms around me was so comforting that I nuzzled my nose further into his hard chest. I felt like my head was swimming, but his scent was so delicious. It was a mix of fresh laundry, soap, and something uniquely Aleksander. I found it intoxicating.

Aleksander’s scent made me feel safe and secure. It was like a warm embrace, a promise that everything would be okay. I could feel the tension in my shoulders melt away as I relaxed into his arms. Yet, there was also an undercurrent to it that made me want to devour him.

I opened my eyes as I felt Aleksander bending to lay me down in my bed, but I wasn’t ready to be pulled from the comfort I felt in his arms. I wasn’t really sure why I felt this way.

‘It must be the alcohol,’ I reasoned because Aleksander had been nothing but rude to me.

‘He doesn’t like me, and I don’t have a reason to like him either, except for how attractive he is.’

Truthfully, Aleksander had never gone out of his way to do anything for me, apart from what he did back at the club. But I was sure that he’d do that for any woman who was being harassed. So far, from what I knew of all the brothers, they were big on consent and respecting women, and despite his gruff, broody attitude, I was sure he was probably the same way, too.

‘But what does it matter, Ellie?’

I was trying to reel myself in, but I couldn’t shake this needy feeling I had for him. I just wanted to taste him.

‘He likes me. I mean, he did get hard for me at the club,’ I tried to make an excuse. Then I shook my head. ‘Snap out of it, Ellie.’

My feelings were getting the better of me, and all the alcohol I’d downed was turning into liquid courage, making me throw caution to the wind. As he placed me on the bed and went to release me, I tightened my hold around his neck and clung to him.

“What the hell! Ellie!” Aleksander said as he lost his balance and fell on top of me, pressing himself completely against my body.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to do that. Ellie, let go,” he whispered against my neck.

Still, he didn’t say it as angrily as I would have expected. There was a surprisingly gentle tone in his voice.

“Please stay with me,” I whispered into his ear more desperately than I should have.

“I’m not going anywhere,” he replied as he removed my arms from around his neck and looked into my eyes. “Just lie down, and I’ll grab you some water and Advil.
