Finding Silence

At some point in the day all the fun, excitement and noise may become too much. The great part about wild swimming is that solitude is only a dip below the surface away. Any time you crave a few moments alone, all you have to do is duck your head beneath the surface and you are again alone with the water. Swim a few strokes and take yourself away from the crowd. Lie back in the water, hear the scritch of the underwater world, calm your mind and be still. When we take a few moments out of the whirlwind and just breathe, our relationship with the world and our surroundings changes just a little bit. We can see it more clearly and enter it more fully. Standing back from the group, we can now observe our setting more carefully; we can see the patterns of relationships and re-enter the fray with greater consideration.
