Trey's stance stiffened, the lines of his face hardening as he recognized the futility of sweet talk and half-truths. "You don't get it, do you?" His voice was a low growl, the charm stripped away to reveal a threat lurking beneath. "Stay away from Lisa, Oliver. This is your final warning. You have no idea what you're meddling with."

The air in the cabin seemed to drop a few degrees, and the light dimmed as clouds gathered outside, casting shadows across the wooden floorboards. Oliver felt the weight of Trey's warning like an anchor pulling at his resolve, but he wouldn't let fear sink him.

"Threats won't work on me, Trey," Oliver replied, his voice steady as bedrock. He met Trey's gaze, his own eyes reflecting the tumultuous waves of a stormy ocean. "I care about her more than you'll ever understand. And I will not stand aside while you cast your shadow over her life."

"Is that so?" Trey's lips pulled back into a sneer, revealing the predator within. “She lied to you, Oliver. She didn’t tell you she was sick. She didn’t tell you why she left. She deceived you… pulled you into her life and made you love her without telling you she might have to leave you soon.”

"Mark my words," Oliver continued, unflinching, the timbre of his voice carrying the depth of his commitment. "I will do anything—anything—to keep her safe."

“You’re so ridiculous,” Trey said. “Are all men out here this stubborn and old-fashioned? You think you’re all man with your weathered face and big muscles. But she’s got you fooled, Oliver. And you must be angry about that.”

Silence hung between them, filled only by the sound of their breath and the distant rumble of thunder.

The standoff ended not with words but with the tacit acknowledgment of a battle line drawn. Trey's expression clouded, the threat in his eyes as clear as the coming storm. But Oliver stood resolute, the lighthouse standing guard over treacherous waters, unwavering and ever watchful.
