The stone circle Pobull Fhinn is thought to date from the second millennium BC and is reputedly named after the legendary Gaelic hero Fionn mac Cumhaill, known in English as Finn MacCool or Fingal. Although it is situated on a natural plateau, not all of the stones have been excavated, and deep heather and bracken cover many of those that have. It is not quite as impressive as it might be with some considered curation, but despite this it is still a breathtaking location.

Shortly after Pobull Fhinn, you can leave the main route and follow posts over to Barpa Langass, a large Neolithic chambered cairn that is thought to be around 5000 years old. The entrance is at the east side, and although you are warned against entering, as the structure has partially collapsed, if you peek in with the help of a torch you can see how it is constructed, with massive slabs supported by rock piers.
