CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

Aleena was in heaven.

She was totally and completely giddy as she stood on the set of the show’s next game.

Two games in two days, and her fellow contestants weren’t complaining. The girls, at least, weren’t complaining as they took in the sight in front of them.

All four guys stood, completely shirtless, with only a pair of leopard print spandex shorts on with black trainers. The four of them stood tall, no sign of being uncomfortable at having to wear the demeaning outfits. They all looked good, but she found herself being partial to one of the guys in the line-up.

“Welcome to the Jungle Gym!” Krista cheered. “Boys, you will show off your physical strengths by completing the course. The boy that finishes the course first will get to go on a special date outside the house with the girl of his choice.”

Aleena stifled a giggle as Adrian grimaced at Krista’s words.

“Boys, you must walk along the plank, use the rope to get over the five-metre wall, complete thirty sit ups, thirty weighted squats, crawl under the netting, jump over the hurdles, and then get through the monkey bars before jumping into the ball pool,” Krista exclaimed. “So super easy, guys!”

Aleena’s attention was fixed on Krista’s when she felt the weight of Adrian’s gaze pull her towards him.

Each clap she made slowed down time, the pull of his eyes overwhelmingly tied to her attention. She kept her face cool as she focused on Krista, not allowing herself the satisfaction of turning towards him.

Last night she had moved past the confusing stage into the deep well of emotion when it came to Adrian. Moved past everything that had happened in the beginning and left with this completely different version of him.

She liked him. In a school-girl and heart-eyed type of way.

“Oh, and to complete the course you must kiss the girl of your choice!” Krista added. “Remember, the guy that finishes the quickest wins the date.”

“Not in my experience!” Jackson called out.

“Then this should be right up your alley, Jackson,” Krista said with a playful laugh.

Adrian was the first to start on the apparatus, and Aleena’s lips parted at the glorious sight in front of her. He had crossed the plank in only a few strides and had already started on the rope climb. She had a perfect view of the way all his muscles contorted, his back tensing and releasing as he skillfully made it over the wall.

There were too many impressive things going on at the same time, she wasn’t sure where to look.

Adrian manoeuvred through the last monkey bars part of the course before jumping into the ball pool. He lifted himself out of the pool and emerged with water glistening all over his chiselled body. The water droplets were travelling downwards towards his tiny, fitted shorts, which did not leave much room for imagination and it was impressive.

The music was playing in the background and Adrian moved towards where the girls were standing. As he walked towards them, a pang of something hit her when she thought about him stopping in front of Kat.
