When the Angels made their second name change in just a few years, deciding to call themselves the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Dodgers decided to have a bit of fun at the Angels’ expense. They printed T-shirts that said “Los Angeles Dodgers of Los Angeles.”

The Angels play in Anaheim, which is about an hour away from Los Angeles, California. The team was known as the California Angels for many years. As an expansion team in 1961, the Angels won 70 games, still the best season ever for a first-year expansion team. But for a long time, the team was noted more for its interesting stadium with the enormous “A” in the outfield than for any on-field success. In 2000, former Dodger catcher Mike Scioscia came on board as manager. He and slugger Vladimir Guerrero led the team to five playoff appearances this decade, including their only World Championship in 2002.
