Eat a Healthy Breakfast
Slow-digesting protein, like eggs or an omelet, in the morning lasts longer than empty carbs like cold cereal. Good oatmeal will also provide a more sustained energy release. Have a tasty breakfast and savor it by enjoying the flavors and smells. Soak up the sensory pleasures.
Visualize Your Mountain in Vivid Detail
See yourself succeeding. See yourself achieving the goal. Picture where you are, what clothes you are wearing, who is with you when it happens, and the excitement of those around you (See Pitfall 3: Pulling a Goal Out of Thin Air).
Recite Affirmations Audibly
Create your own affirmations that let you reprogram yourself toward positive self-talk and positive personal imagery, and then say them out loud. Defeat imposter syndrome with positive affirmations. Here are some examples:
â¢My goals manifest in direct response to my efforts.
â¢I choose to take complete responsibility for myself and my company.
â¢I make a difference in the world by providing exceptional products, creating wealth, and providing careers for others.
â¢I am confident in what I know and recognize that failure is part of the process. Fail fast. My failures and successes do not define me.
â¢I can learn something from every person I interact with.
â¢I choose joy over happiness, wealth over money, kindness over niceness, and people over processes.
â¢Iâm willing to have hard conversations when necessary, done in love.
Start Your Day with Gratitude
Write down three things for which you are grateful today. One of the scientifically proven ways to be happy is to express your gratitude and thankfulness for another. Capture these thoughts in a journal and, when appropriate, share them with those you are grateful for.
Write a Thank-You Card for a Team Member
Just after the gratitude exercise is a great time to write a thank-you card for a fellow team member.
Evening Peace Plan
Studies also show nighttime can be the most creative and reflective time, so it is not necessarily a great time to make critical decisions (although individual circadian rhythms can vary). For most, the evening is a great time to enjoy creative hobbies, relax, unwind, and reflect. During this time you can:
â¢Tuck the kids in bed, spend time with family.
â¢Review appointments for the next day and turn the cell phone off for the night.
â¢Journal about your day.
â¢Engage in a relaxing and creative hobby like guitar or drawing.
â¢Pray/meditate.
â¢Leave your phone outside your bedroom and sleep peacefully.
Tuck the Kids in Bed or Spend Time Connecting with a Loved One
Connect with your family. Human connection is vital for life, so make sure you share connections with your kids, spouse, or significant other every day.
Review Appointments for Tomorrow
Review your schedule and make a mental note of what you expect to happen and what you need to prepare for with each calendar item.
Journal About Your Day
This is the key activity for nighttime. Journal truth about your day, viewing it as your personal therapist to get your feelings out, but also to enhance your life. Steep a nice cup of chamomile herbal tea (no caffeine) which aids in restful sleep. Listen to some relaxing ambient music and write your three biggest victories of the day.
