Yasmine

“You don’t think it’s crazy that people go on tv and do things that you’d never see them do in person?” I asked.

“No, not really. And I’m not sure that they wouldn’t do it in person. I think it just takes the right amount of money. Some people will do anything for the right cost.” Ward responded.

True. I couldn’t really argue that.

Ward and I were sitting on the couch watching a reality show where people were eating outrageous foods for twenty thousand dollars. Some of the food was even poisonous. There was no way that I could do any of it. We’d also watched a show where people lived in a house in order to find love with one girl. Both men and women were competing.

“Would you move a bunch of women in your house to find love?” Money was one thing, the heart was another. I couldn’t gamble mine that way.

“I don’t really think those people are really looking for love. Not the host nor the guests. It’s about fame and popularity. I haven’t seen a show yet where the couple that wins at the end actually stays together. They usually say something vague at the reunion show about still exploring or being good friends before another season of that show comes out.”

I giggled. I did notice that the show that we were watching had eight seasons with the same girl who was looking for love. Do you know how many people that totalled to be? She even slept with a lot of them.

“When I find love, I hope that it’s generous. I’ve had a few girls that I hoped would be the one but ended up being somebody else's one. I could only hope that I’m lucky enough to find a Yasmine the way that Domino has.”

I know he sounded poetic but there was something sad in his eyes. Maybe he was lonely. Or maybe he just wanted good food. Either way, hearing the words come from him didn’t sound as cheesy as one would think. He seemed sincere and he’d already told me how much he appreciated me being a good woman for his brother. He almost sounded envious. He didn’t know about the distance I’d been putting between Domino and I. At least, I hadn’t told him. And it was necessary to keep my heart in check. I was hopeless when it came to the children but I could reserve something back from Domino. I had to or I’d lose myself in him.

Speak of the devil.

Domino walked into the room and looked between Ward and I. There was a long look at me before he pointedly looked at Ward. Yes, I’d been avoiding him. And I wasn’t exactly hiding that fact any more. It’d been two weeks since I’d woken up in his bed. Fourteen days since I’d realized that I had feelings for him. Fourteen nights since I missed him so very much that it hurt. But on that day, he’d shown that he had feelings for someone else.
