IN THE KITCHEN Charlotte took her time in making the tea. She needed the space from the woman in her lounge, to take in the magnitude of what was happening. When Charlotte first looked into finding her birth parents she never dreamed of actually finding either of them. Her mum was very supportive and helpful with as much information as she could. Charlotte’s dad had been dead a couple of years when she started her search but she knew he too would have been right behind her.

Charlotte had been very fortunate in who’d picked her to be their daughter. They’d been loving and brought her up to accept life’s little problems of which she had few. Her parents, Mike and Carol, weren’t wealthy but they gave her a life rich in love, support and kindness. They told her at a very early age she was adopted and that they had chosen her to make their family complete. Charlotte had no animosity toward Meghan who’d probably had good reasons to give her up. Charlotte thought if Meghan hadn’t wanted her, she would’ve ignored her request to meet up.

Unable to put off the inevitable, Charlotte took the tray with the tea and some biscuits into the lounge.
