A little over ninety minutes later, I’m coifed and made up to within an inch of my life. I know from some of the promo photoshoots Brew and I have done in the past, they do heavier makeup for photos since it shows up better, but I hate feeling like I have a mask on. I count the minutes until I can wash my face again. My hair is in large curls, just as Curtis requested, but it feels stiff from all the hairspray and I can’t wait to wash it, either.

When I get back to our room, I knock on the door and Brew opens it, already dressed. As someone who is only ever casual, I never get used to seeing him in anything even close to dressed up. He’s had to wear very few suits over the years since we’ve worked together, and only if we had to go to an awards dinner or something like that. It’s definitely not his default to wear dress slacks and button-downs, but damn if he doesn’t clean up good.

He’s wearing what are probably the only dress pants he owns—a black pair—along with the light blue button-down he’d mentioned earlier. He has the sleeves rolled up to the elbow and he looks so handsome. His hair is the same as always, past his shoulders and light brown with a slight wave that gives him such great texture and volume, any woman who meets him is instantly jealous of his hair—me included. But he’s trimmed his beard to a shorter, neater length.

“You look amazing, Brew.”

He gives me a shy smile. “Thanks, Pearl. Your dress is hanging in the bathroom. I hope it’s the right one. The photographer texted and she’ll be here soon. We’re supposed to meet her at the cabana.”

I nod and hurry to change. Ten minutes later, I’m ready and slipping on a pair of earrings and a dainty gold chain necklace, but I’m having issues getting the clasp closed. Brew comes up behind me and takes it from me. Once he gets it fastened, he presses a kiss to my bare shoulder. “You look beautiful. As much shit as I gave Curtis for making us do these, I’m kinda glad we’ll have them.”

I turn to face him and wrap my arms around his neck. “Me, too. Maybe we can hang them up at your house.”

Brew levels me with a gaze. “Our house, Gem. Although, if you’d prefer, we can live in your apartment.”

I shake my head. “No, your house is a lot bigger. You have a yard. My apartment would be a definite down grade for you.”

He grins. “Okay. Whatever you want.” I don’t tell him that in this moment, I want whatever he wants to give me; even if that’s forever. His phone dings and he pulls it out of his pocket to read the screen. “That’s the photographer. They’re ready for us.”
