This is a popular fruit salad from Tehran, Iran, where large bowls of mixed fruits are topped with cream and served at banquets and at expensive restaurants. It is very decorative and tasty and will make a fine finish to a meal.
1 ripe but firm honeydew melon
6 strawberries, halved
8 Morello-type cherries, stoned
1 apricot, sliced
1 tangerine, peeled and segmented
8 seedless grapes, halved
6 tablespoons icing sugar
1 tablespoon orange blossom water
150ml (ΒΌ pint) double cream
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
