Think 80/20!
Were you glued to Facebook all evening instead of going out and exercising? Did you eat a pizza on Tuesday night? Good god, nobodyâs perfect!
If you eat well 80 percent of the time, the remaining 20 percent wonât play that big a role. Both Sofi and I live by this rule, which means cupcakes and evenings of Chardonnay are a natural part of our lives. Yay! Weâre no health robots, and eating cake on birthdays or having Momâs homemade potatoes au gratin for Sunday dinner is a part of life. By being able to allow ourselves some less healthy things now and then, we also get motivation to stick to good things the rest of the week. Let 80/20 be your mantra, and return to it whenever youâre unsure about what you should eat.
And make sure you really enjoy it when youâre going to eat something unhealthy. No more guilt! Whatâs the point if you canât even enjoy what you just put in yourself?
Rememberâitâs what you do on most days that determines how you look and feel.
Carbohydrates build a tight body!
For many of us, everyday life without pizza, pasta, and bread is reality, and a sad one, at that! You might have learned to fear carbohydrates because you heard that they make you gain weightâbut giving them up completely is not only incredibly dull and boring, itâs also harmful to your body.
BODYLICIOUS tip!
Carbohydrates are the best fuel when you want to burn fat.
Carbohydrates are your bodyâs favorite fuel, since they break down quicker than other nutrients: proteins and fats. If youâre missing carbohydrates, youâll also be forced to decrease the intensity of your workouts, which in turn affects your results. Another nasty effect eliminating carbohydrates has on your body is that now, desperate for fuel, your body is forced to take fat from your liver and turn it into so-called ketones. Because your body prefers blood sugar in your brain, this ketone fuel is only 90 percent effective, which means you wonât be on your mental A-game. If youâre like us, living a hectic life where you juggle work, fitness, travel, family, and friends, itâs simply not a smart solution.
Another side effect of consuming too few carbohydrates is that the serotonin levels in your brain plummet, which leaves many people irritated, depressed, and aggressive. We want you to wake up happy and full of energy!
