2. The Cole Bay to Cay Bay Hike

Walking time: 1 hour, 45 minutes, round trip

Drive the main highway westward out of Philipsburg and go uphill. At the “T" intersection make a left turn. Ascend Cole Bay Hill, where there are magnificent views over the sea. Continue on and turn left onto the road for Cay Bay. This hike follows a trail that is actually a horse path, and will lead you onto the shore of Cole Bay. From the bay, the route rises until it arrives at a viewpoint overlooking Great Bay and Little Bay. Following switchbacks, it then gently drops to the secluded beach in Cay Bay. Cay Bay Beach is one of the less visited spots on the island and both swimming and exploring can be done in relative isolation.
