I can hear the emotion in Cathy’s voice as she wipes at her eyes. “I guess I didn’t think anything about it when it started, I could see Lucas but there were drugs there, too.”

“Lucas’s father made your visitation contingent upon you continuing to do drugs with him?”

“Yes. But, Lucas wasn’t there when it happened. He went to a babysitter.”

Judge Post goes quiet for a few moments and Cathy sinks back into her seat beside Sheila. I try to put myself into the judge’s position. I can see her concern about Cathy’s drug use. It was frequent and an ongoing issue. It could affect Lucas’s quality of care and safety if she were to relapse. But, even with the small amount of information presented about Rocco, he doesn’t appear to be a particularly fit parent himself.
