Mix the rum, lime juice, and honey together in a highball glass, stirring to make sure that the honey dissolves. Add ice. Serve immediately.
NOTE
Some folks add a bit of water to lighten the drink.
Mulata
This Cuban classic has a decidedly non–politically correct name that allegedly celebrates the charms of Cuban women. I’ve darkened her up a bit by using two types of rum.

1½ ounces white rum, such as Bacardi Light
½ ounce amber rum, such as Bacardi Gold rum
½ ounce brown crème de cacao
½ ounce freshly squeezed strained lime juice
½ cup crushed ice
