Leakage

As covered in the previous section, high value pages with high numbers of exits can be thought of as “leaking” users, and leaking value. To help to identify which pages are the most responsible for leaking value, you can use a formula that was created by Fresh Egg, an agency I currently work with in the UK.

Leakage formula

The formula is quite simple, and can be quickly calculated for all pages of your website by exporting your data into Excel and performing a simple calculation. The result of this will be a leakage value for each page. The pages with the highest leakage are the ones you’ll want to focus your UX efforts on.
