Chapter Five

“What the fuck?” I screamed.

Hugh sat up. “What are you doing in here naked?”

“You— He—” My head snapped back and forth between them. “Wait…is this your new boyfriend?” I asked him.

Hugh slowly nodded.

Bruce laughed. “You should see your faces!”

I’d been had.

Hugh’s face turned chalk white. He turned to Bruce. “You fucked him?”

“Naw, babe. He wouldn’t let me. Sucked him off good though.”

Hugh glared at me. “You said you loved me.”

“I do love you. I’ve been so fucking depressed. I went all the way to St. Tropez to see you and you run from me every time you see me. Your mom said you didn’t want to see me so I took this job. I’ve texted you. I’ve left messages. You’ve never returned a single one!”

He stared at me, his gaze cutting back to Bruce. “You seduced him? You knew what I was going through. I trusted you…and you…seduced him?”

For the first time since I’d met him, Bruce looked uncomfortable. “Come on, babe, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. You talk about this guy like he’s Jesus Christ reincarnated…he’s the most selfish lover I ever met!”

“Wait a minute. You said you wanted to suck me off. That it’s your good luck thing. I was horny and…and…heartbroken. I said yes. So sue me! I never led you on. It was on you, Bruce.”

“You said the same thing to me,” Hugh whispered. “You cheated on me!”

I opened my mouth but he wasn’t talking to me. He was talking to Bruce.

“You’re my whole life,” I said to Hugh. “I’m sorry this happened. I’m sorry I’m a stupid guy.”

Hugh said nothing. Hard glints showed in his eyes.

Bruce strode toward him. “I can explain.”

“Nothing to explain,” Hugh said. “You’re a jerk.” He got out of the bed and ran to the bathroom, slamming the door behind him.

“I quit,” I said to Bruce. “I’m going home right now.”

“Don’t be an idiot. We’ll all go back together. The chopper’s leaving in a couple of hours. Let me talk to him.”

I nodded and backed out of the room. Once again, it had all gone horribly wrong. I cursed myself for letting my loneliness and stupid hormones get the better of me. I wanted to be on that chopper, to be near Hugh. I needed a chance to talk to him.

Would Hugh ever forgive me?

I waited for hours in my room. I heard them making love and it nearly broke me. Bruce was a cruel man; he wanted me to hear. When they came to get me, to say the drive was the most awkward one of my life was an understatement. I was driving the man I loved as he made out with the man who’d seduced me and taken Hugh from me. I have no idea how I didn’t crash the car.

We returned the rental car and a limo took us to the helipad. I knew the chopper ride would be brief. I think they both got off on making out right in front of me.
