Waiting for Doc to get here is boring. I keep having flashbacks to the past, and frankly, I’m tired of the past. I need to focus on the future I have with my girl.

“Come on out Haydes, I’m by myself,” Doc’s voice calls to me.

Coming from the other room in the area, I hold my gun out. Quickly, I scan the area and see that the Doc is indeed alone.

“Thank you for coming.” Without the ability to stand for too long, I slump against the wall. “I need you to patch me up.”

“You know I can’t. If they catch me with you, I’m a dead man,” he says with uncertainty. Has the man forgotten who the hell I am?

“Well then, let’s not mince words. Fucking patch, me up or I will kill you. Do I need to remind you that while my aim may be terrible, I know enough ways to maim you before you make it past the door?”

He shudders and nods. “Fine. I figured that’s what you would say.”

The way Haydes says it puts my nerves on edge. I shiver as blood keeps coming down my leg. Why is he taking so long to get over here? Closing my eyes, I try to keep my patience under check.

“You should have known I’d follow him.” Hypnos scares the hell out of me but he's right.

“Well, brother, I am glad you are here. You know, I didn’t think you’d be the one to show up.” I mock him. It’s the easiest thing to do. He’s such a pussy for taking action. I smirk, even though I’m caught. He knows he has me, but he doesn’t know my little secret.

“Doc, yes, come patch him up. I can’t have him dying on us. If he does, Charlotte won’t be happy.”

“How’s my Little Bird?” I taunt. It’s stupid but I do it, anyway.

His hand encircles my throat, and he whispers in my ear, “She’s not your anything. I’m going to let the doc fix you so I can take you to the dungeon. I’ll be watching over you, so you are fucked if you think you will get free again.”

I chuckle and move forward like I’m swaying. When Hypnos comes with me, I bounce backward, knocking my head into his nose. His grip on me releases and I turn, pushing him away from me. Although I’m weak, I’m not going to just give up and die. Not today.

Trying to move with my leg the way it is, is dangerous for my health. The blood is gushing even faster now, and my head is woozy. I look toward Doc. He’s standing there, wide eyed and his mouth open in shock.

“Well, don’t just stand there, patch me up,” I demand. Hypnos uses his knife to back me up to the wall.

“You stupid son of a bitch.” He growls and I stay still. No point in poking the bear any further. I smile as his nose looks broken.
