Chapter Eight

Blake

This girl was driving me crazy.

Her hair was so soft, golden in the light filtering in through my windows. She looked almost innocent.

My thoughts were anything but innocent, though.

I wanted to take her. Right here, on the couch. Or in my bed. Wherever she would let me have her.

I wanted to hold her down, feel her heat around my cock.

I wanted to hear her moans.

They were probably the sweetest sound on the planet.

I combed my hands through her hair, working the braid she’d just done loose.

Her head tilted back, just a little.

I decided to take a chance.

I pressed my fingertips to her scalp, starting to massage it gently.

“You’re a funny one, Tori.”

She opened her eyes, looking at me over the rim of her glasses. “Me?”

“Yeah. Flirting doesn’t seem to work on you.”

She lifted her head. “Wait, what?”

I chuckled. “I’ve been flirting with you all day.”

“You have?”

“Yeah. You haven’t noticed?”

Tori went bright red.

It was adorable.

“I… I thought you were just being nice.”

“I was. But I was also flirting.”

“I had no idea.”

I laughed. “I’m not the first guy to flirt with you today, either. The young guy at the bar?”

“Really?”

“Yes, really. He tried so hard, and you shut him down.”

“I didn’t mean to!” She sat up, turning to look at me. She looked like she might burst into tears. “I didn’t mean to upset anyone! I just… I don’t pick up on that kind of thing easily!”

“Hey, whoa.” I put my hands on her shoulders. “Tori. There’s no need to get upset.”

“But… but I… I feel so stupid!”

“Hey. Easy, all right? It’s okay.”

She looked away from me, bringing her hands up to her face. She removed her glasses, wiping her eyes with the other hand.

“I just… I never think anyone likes me. I never think any guy is going to want me. There are so many gorgeous girls out there, and I feel so plain and boring and nerdy, and… and I’m heavy, and…”

“Okay, now, that’s gotta stop.”

Tori looked up at me, frowning deeply. “What’s gotta stop?”

“Talking bad about yourself. Tori, you are smart, and you’re sexy. You’re driven. You’re clearly a hard worker. You’re not plain or boring. I mean, I’ve been flirting on you for a reason.”

“Not just to have a notch in your bedpost?”

I laughed. “No posts on my bed.”

Tori huffed softly.

I touched her shoulder. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding. But no. It’s not just for a notch in my bedpost or something stupid like that.”

She nodded, sniffling again. “Okay.”

“Okay.” I squeezed her shoulders gently. “You want another mint julep?”

“Please?”

“Sure thing.”

I left her on the couch to collect herself, returning with two more frozen mint juleps. She accepted her cup, taking a long sip before putting it on the table beside her.

“You good?” I asked.

Tori shrugged. “I’m… okay.”

I looked at her for a moment, tilting my head. “You know… you look like you could use a back rub.”

“Really?”

“Yeah.” I nodded. “You need to unwind. Here. Turn your back toward me.”

“You know how?”

“I know a lot of stuff.”

“Oh.” She nodded, shifting to put her back to me.
