We followed the mayor to her radio broadcast room, which was powered by

an emergency generator.

“This just in,” said the mayor into the microphone. “There’s a new way to

celebrate Halloween today. Here to tell you all about it is Pinkville’s own

superhero—Pinkagirl!”

“Tonight, we’re going to have a special Halloween party in Pinkville Park.

Wear your costumes, and bring your candy, your pink-o’-lanterns, and your

flashlights,” I said. “Power or no power, we’re going to make this town glow!”

My message went out over the airwaves. I hoped that everyone in town had

heard it.
