My tea was cold by the time I set it down on my box room desk and ate my breakfast, then boiled the water once more, and laid out my notebooks and sharpened the pencils. There were many factors to consider. Shop opening times, locations and building plans. The internet would provide the bulk of the information to form a plan to execute the prosecution. Houses sold online had images of their rooms and floor plans hidden in some internet cache, or a database of council planning applications. I began listing everything that came into my head. Objectives, assumptions, methods, risk and execution, then brought up information on the screen as required.

By the time the notes and planning were complete, I sat back, hungry once more. And it was a good hunger, born of work. My notes filled many pages. I set the ration pouches to heat and sat back. On the monitor, the ivory sun had passed over and was now dropping towards the horizon. But a plan had emerged. It would work, if executed with purpose and vigour. And then the prosecution would begin. If you could prosecute a corpse.

There was time. I got dressed, in boots, combat trousers and the hi-vis jacket. With my hood up against the cold under a builder’s hard hat and with a mask covering my face, I lay back on the bed, waiting for the dark, my armour complete.

Beside the bed was a flask of hot tea. All I needed was a sex shop.
