Chapter 02: Sweet Middle Eastern Food
Recipe 12: Baklava
It is a popular Greek dish. It is invented by a popular master chef and is very easy to make. Try it and enjoy.
Preparation time: 1 hour 10 minutes
Serves: 18
Ingredients
Phyllo dough â 16 ounces
Butter â 1 cup
Water â 1 cup
Nuts â 1 pound (chopped)
White sugar â 1 cup
Honey â ½ cup
Cinnamon - 1 tsp.
Vanilla extract â 1 tsp.
Instructions
At 350 degrees, preheat the oven.
Mix cinnamon and nuts. Keep them aside.
Take the phyllo dough and cut it into two pieces. Put the sheet dough into a pan. Grease it with melted butter. Prepare 8 sheets and pour the mixture over it. Now, place the layer of butter and nuts on each layer of the dough sheet.
Now, make a diamond, square, or any other shape of your choice using a knife. For 50 minutes, bake it. Wait until it gets brown and crispy.
While they are in the oven, make the sauce. For this, boil the water and combine sugar and water to it. Now, add vanilla and honey. Cook for 20 minutes.
Now, take the dough out of the oven. Pour the sauce over the dough. Keep it aside for cooling. Now take cupcake papers and serve them.
