As was mentioned above, a remarkable example of reading Mark’s portrayal of Jesus in light of the Old Testament can be found in Richard Bauckham’s little volume, Who is God? (Baker, 2020). It examines with great skill a number of texts that are what the subtitle says: Key Moments of Biblical Revelation. We will return to this volume when we later consider “Messiah’s Metamorphosis” or Transfiguration.

O Lord Jesus, come to me;

O Divine Spirit, rest upon me;

O Holy Father, look upon me in mercy.
