A and the cat – kitten, I should say – seem to have formed a close bond, even though A is not human and can’t feel.

Went downstairs. A was in his chair. The back door was closed. I opened it. Look at the trees, I said, but A was looking down at his lap, and I noticed the kitten snuggled against his – very realistic – muscled, T-shirted stomach.

Cold, he said to it, stroking its fur. Beautiful, soft, he said.

I felt – ? Something complex. I don’t know how to describe it. I felt something, anyway.

If this is what the psych was trying to get me to do, I don’t like it!

Maybe A is programmed to stroke cats?
