CHAPTER 7

TRINITY

Meanwhile, Trinity sat hunched over her laptop within the sanctuary of Lucky’s suite, the quiet hum of the cooling fans mingling with the rapid clicking of keys. Her heart thundered in her chest, mirroring the intensity that drove her fingers to dance across the keyboard. She was a woman on a mission, fear and determination sparking within her like a live wire. She’d not gone beyond the front room of the suite, an office space, where she’d found a large beautiful wooden desk.

“Come on, there has to be something here,” she whispered to herself, her eyes darting across the screen. She scoured social media profiles, combed through online forums, and pieced together rumors that floated around the dark corners of the internet. Every bit of information was a potential lifeline, a chance to unravel the twisted knot Viper had left in his wake.

The heavy door opening, jolted her from her focus. For a moment, her heart skipped, fear gripping her tight. But then she saw Lucky, and she hurried over to him, relief washing over.

“Lucky,” she breathed, the sight of him stirring a cocktail of emotions within her—love tangled with anxiety, desire mixed with the urgent need to protect what they were building together.

“Little Rabbit, thank you for listening and staying here. What were you doing to pass the time?” He looked over at the laptop. “Work?”

“I can't just sit back,” Trinity confessed. “I need to help. I was researching, investigating…”

He stepped closer, the heat from his body wrapping around her like a protective cloak. His hands cupped her face, tilting it up to meet his eyes. “I know, you want to help, darlin'. But you're playing with fire. And I can't lose you. Little girls are not part of the investigation. It’s my job to protect you and I can only do it if you are kept far away from any danger. You are playing with fire. Daddies don’t let their Little Girl s play with matches, now, do they?”

“We can play with fire together,” she challenged, her spirit refusing to cower. “I found something—an ex-member of Hell Speed who might be willing to talk. It's a risk, but it could lead us straight to the truth.”

Lucky's eyes narrowed. Finally, he nodded. “All right. We'll approach this bastard carefully, controlled, and calculated. I’ll get the information to the men. We are doing this my way, Little Rabbit. I can’t focus if I feel you are in any form of danger. I appreciate what you’ve found but no more. Your involvement ends here. Do you understand?”

“Yes, Daddy.”

“Good girl,” he murmured, brushing his lips against her forehead in a tender, yet possessive gesture. “I'll burn the world down before we let it take you under. The only one allowed to play with fire in this relationship is me.”

Trinity shivered, the raw promise in his words igniting a flame within her. “Then what can I do to help?”

“The men are out working right now. I have a meeting early in the morning with nearby chapter presidents.
