BECKETT
Off came Nickâs sweater, and I inspected it for signs of red and white frosting. It was multicolored, which camouflaged icing that had been pipedâthough squirted was a more precise wordâin the wrong direction. I needed to improve my piping skills.
Next, he sat on a recliner and slipped off one shoe.
âOh, youâre doing the foot-wrapping trick.â I headed into the kitchen and grabbed the plastic wrap, but he shook his head. Was he doing the winter equivalent of walking over hot coals? With no warm clothes or shoes, his core temperature would drop, and Iâd have to save him.
Yes! I was up for rescuing the sexy omega. The way of getting someone warmed up when theyâd been dangerously close to freezing and there were no medical facilities close by was to strip them naked, remove your own clothes, and cuddle under the covers. Weâd shared the bed but had been fully clothed, so getting naked was my dream date.
While Nick was pulling off his socks, I checked the phone for how long I should leave him outside before rescuing him. Less than ten minutes, and heâd have frostbite. But the Internet was assuming heâd be clothed. I was certain Iâd be pulling him in within a minute.
The recliner squeaked, and my head shot up. My houseguest had removed his shirt. My gaze was fixed on his bare skin, remembering him warming me up by putting my hands under his armpits, and now I was wishing I could brush my hands over his sculpted chest.
âBeckett?â
âMmmm,â I replied. Nickâs mouth was opening and closing, but his naked top half had my full attention.
âYouâre not scared, are you?â
âNo.â Wait, what was the question? And did it matter when I was feasting on Nickâs body.
âGreat. Youâll understand once Iâm outside.â
The clink of a belt being undone had me lowering my gaze. The universe was answering my prayers. Nick lowered the zipper on his pants. Faster. Faster. I bit back an offer to help and, instead, kept my expression bland, though, as I was practically salivating, he had probably caught on to my arousal. The earthy scent of slick that filled the room was probably a giveaway.
With the pants puddling at his feet, Nick kicked them away while I did my best to control my breathing. My galloping heart was making me dizzy, and I counted to ten as I took in and let out each breath. This almost stranger Iâd shared a bed with was standing in my living room clad in his briefs.
And then, with his fingers inside the waistband, he removed the last piece of clothing.
âWowzer!â The word popped out, the teen in me overtaking my power of speech and regressing me more than ten years. I slapped a hand over my mouth and mumbled, âSorry.â But it was a hollow apology because I was anything but.
Where to look? I studied the light fixture above me that needed cleaning. Dropped my gaze to the floor as Tornado curled around my legs and inspected my fingers which, even after washing, were stained with the red from the frosting.
