15.7.4 Triple Quadrupole Analysers

Alternatively, mass spectrometers can be equipped with three quadrupoles in series, and such instruments are termed triple‐quadrupole mass spectrometers. The principle of triple‐quadrupole mass spectrometers is illustrated in Figure 15.12 and these instruments can be used for quantitative determinations by SRM or multiple reaction monitoring (MRM).
