Driving out near the area where Interstate 95 rested, Brant followed on a small note of information which he discovered buried within the file toward the back. The details indicated a small cabin deep in the woods near the interstate. It seemed like the perfect spot for a killer to make his escape and Brant knew it for sure. Driving down the open road similar to the road near the castle, this time Brant saw the cabin ahead and it was clear. There was no other vehicle besides his own. Exiting the car at the gated entrance, Brant scouted the location for anyone. Including the Head-Collector. Brant believed the killer could be hiding inside the cabin, planning his move to escape.

“Seems like there’s no one here. Dammit.”

Brant went to open the door until the sound of rustling came from the trees behind him. Near the entrance onto the cabin grounds. Brant took out his firearm and walked steady near the sight of the sound. Seeing no one, yet hearing the cracking of wood in the distance, Brant yelled out orders to come out from the woods and face him. Hearing the branches crack coming closer, exiting the woods were two Caucasian men. Dressed in jeans and jackets. One had a beard. The other was clean-shaven. Brant didn’t recognize them, yet they appeared to have been on the run due to their dirty attire.

“Who are you guys?” Brant asked.

“We’re just passing through. That’s all.” The bearded man said.

“Hey, this cabin yours?” The clean-shaven man asked. “I’m curious because if it isn’t, perhaps my friend and I can use it while we’re here. For just a rest stop.”

“First off, this cabin isn’t mine. It belongs to a killer. Second, both of you will stay put until you answers my questions.”

“Questions? What are we? Arrested or something?”

“Where are you both from?”

“We come from New Haven. Just looking for a place to stay while our homes are being renovated.”

“You decided to come into Point Hope because your homes are being renovated?”

“Yeah.”

Brant shook his head.

“I’m not buying that shit.”

“Look man, we’re not trying to cause trouble or anything. We just need a place to stay. After our situation back in New Haven is settled, we’ll be out of this land before you can say stop, drop, and roll.”

Brant sighed. His gun still aimed toward the two strangers.

“One more question then.”

“Go for it.”

“We you part of the Congregation?”

“I’m sorry?” The bearded man said.

“You heard what I said. Were either of you part of the Congregation? The one led by Hoyt Bennett?”

The two men stood paused. Their eyes moving back and forth between themselves.

“Answer my question and I’ll let you go.”

“Afraid we can’t do that!” The bearded man said, raising up his gun.

Before he could take a shot Brant fired his own, shooting both men in the head. The brief moment of silence cleared the air after the echoed gunfire. Brant sighed with displeasure as more footsteps were sounded from the woods. Listening closely, Brant could hear the voices of more men.
