Not knowing how to help your mate is one of the most frustrating parts of the bond.

The cat’s miserable because she’s caught up in so many webs of intrigue and emotion, pulled from one direction to the next like taffy. Our immediate family can’t see it as clearly as I do; they can only sense that there's a problem. My darling woman is desperately trying to serve too many masters to coin a phrase.

The demands of our mates, confusion over the secret agent, and the voices of all the rest scream for her undivided attention. She can’t make them all happy; it’s impossible. Add to that sadness from the things we don’t discuss and her community duties—she’s running herself ragged. I’ve noticed she seems to have another issue that’s dragging her down in the past few days that she won’t discuss. It’s weighing on her and every time she sits down to relax, someone sends up a Batsignal. They’re having a giant game of keep away and she’s the ball.

This can’t go on for too much longer or she’ll snap in two.

That ironclad, yet squishy marshmallow heart is why I love her. She’s strong while she’s breaking, sheltering everyone else from the storm. My mate would charge the gates of hell for the people she loves and never ask for a thing in return. But she’s soft and giving inside of her toughness with a capacity for forgiveness that rivals a much more saintly human.

The queen of our dominion can’t help but take care of her tribe, even to her own detriment. Her stubbornness can’t go on forever, though. She’s got too much weight on her shoulders from carrying around our secrets. I’ve tried to help, but she refuses because she’s stubborn as a mule. She won’t even let me tell them to bugger off for a while so she can recharge in her sacred space. That’s going to bite her in the ass soon, and I know she’s aware of what happens when she doesn’t do that often enough.

How do I know it’s all going to hit a brick wall?

Watching the three-ring circus from a distance gives me a unique perspective. I don’t have as many webs pulling me in, so I can quietly observe. My schedule may be complex, but I get to have time alone in my studio to create and it frees my soul. My night bloom doesn’t get a moment’s rest from the time she rolls out of bed until she finally sneaks in to curl up to sleep in the wee hours.

You might think I’m exaggerating, but I’ll give you a rundown of the past two days to prove my point.

Monday morning, she met with Constantine because he’s butt hurt. She was dating the whiny droid casually before the bird came along, but he thinks that means he’s guaranteed quality time. He accused her of ignoring him—which isn’t true—but my mate can’t say no to people she cares about.
