Making our way to the front of the trolley, I can see the girls are waiting for us outside. What they don’t know is that I’m arriving not only with Kent, but that we’re engaged. As it comes to a stop, I tell Kent to stand back for a second so I can surprise them.

“There you are! Took you fucking long enough, where’s my Kent? You didn’t fucking hurt him, did you? I like you, but I will stab you in the dick!” Crystal says pushing past me and up the bus. I head over to Brandie excited to hug my friend who’s just as thrilled to see me.

“Listen, I heard all about John being an uptight prick, so I got margaritas at my house, and it was a surprise, but what the heck, I got you a stripper.” Crystal says, glaring at me like I did something wrong, and I can tell Kent is still messing with her. At the mention of strippers my eyes go wide. Oh no. “Um… I hope that stripper is for one of you ladies, because he’s taken.” I say when he stands next to me. I lay a possessive arm around him.

“Oh my god, you guys really did get together! I knew it! I knew it, knew it, knew it! Pay up buttercups!” Grace says to the other two, who only roll their eyes and pull a twenty dollar bill out of their pockets.

“Are you serious? You were betting on whether we made it or not? I’m appalled.” I act shocked, but I’m really not.

“Yeah and I’m out twenty bucks. Fucking A, I swear John the one time I need you to be your anti-people self you falter.” Brandie says acting pissed.

“So when did you guys become official, because I never thought you’d find a boyfriend, after your ‘I’m living for me and only me’ Kent speech.” Crystal replies.

“Not boyfriend, I slid right through that and into fiancé zone. I’m not letting him get away from me.” I inform them, showing them both our matching rings.
