Darcy stood with his hand poised to knock on Liz's closed hotel room door. He hesitated, lowered his hand and fixed his black bow tie nervously. He then unconsciously tucked a non-existent piece of long hair behind his ear, forgetting that his hair had been cut and styled that afternoon and the wayward lock was long gone.

On the other side of the door, Liz stood at the open window overlooking the city lit up and glittering in the moonlight. It was a spectacular night, but she was an anxious wreck. Her hands shook terribly as she waited for Darcy. It was two minutes to ten, and she nervously strummed her fingers against her thigh.

He knocked before sliding his spare key into the door.

She had not the time to bid him entry and was unaware that he possessed a key to her room, but her immediate response to object or to challenge his officious entry relented the moment she turned to greet him.

In tandem, they froze, standing motionless and breathless before the other.

Darcy was the most beautiful man she had ever seen. The black, single button tuxedo fit effortlessly, as though his body had been designed to model its elegance. The jet-black of his silk bow tie matched the depth and passion in his eyes. His newly trimmed hair was fashionably styled, yet the curls at the back of his collar were still there to tempt her. Ebony patent leather shoes were the formal masculine match to the ones he had sent to her, only hers were peep-toed with almost four inches of heel. She was now his height, his equal. Gone was the bad-boy, Harley rocker and standing in his place was a smooth and suave James Bond. Liz was shaken and stirred.

"Hi," she finally managed to say.

Darcy said nothing. He stood spellbound with his heart fluttering.

The midnight Versace gown he chose for her was spectacular in its own right, but on Liz, it was mind blowing. The deep V front neckline left nothing to his imagination, displaying her ample cleavage, full and tempting. She was clearly aroused by his presence, her nipples straining against the thin fabric. It was obvious to him that she wasn’t wearing much of anything beneath the gown. How could she? The dramatic, back V plunged dangerously low, extending all the way to reveal her dimples of Venus. The enticing front slit of the gown ran high, and when Liz shifted her weight, her long shapely leg called to him like a siren.

Held upward by two onyx, lacquered hair sticks, her brunette locks were coiled and woven in a sophisticated style.

Darcy instantly became aroused by the sight of the goddess standing before him. His eyes traveled to her long, slender neck.

There, resting above her tempting breasts was the one gift that had special meaning: the necklace; white gold, 812 diamonds, 17.9 carats formed a serpent with red ruby eyes. He wore the matching cuff links. It was his way of trying to get over his aversion to snakes.
