Chapter Six

Still Friday

Sex didn’t happen. Devon stayed on his side of the table, and Finn felt too raw to suggest it. Devon had gone to bed early for once, leaving Finn at the computer. He didn’t check his e-mail. He had Devon use the admin settings on the computer to block Finn’s e-mail. It was safer if he couldn’t look at the dozens of angry messages from Paul.

He found himself staring at the 404 forbidden error blocking him from his ISP’s web mail site more and more the later it became. It usually kept him from Facebook and a game site Finn enjoyed spending time on.

When he ran out of Internet to read outside of his e-mail and had tried guessing Devon’s admin password incorrectly nine out of the ten times and didn’t dare a tenth, he closed his computer and went to bed.

He fell asleep, but in the middle of his dream about going to school, his clothes kept unraveling.

Finn bolted up. The boat wasn’t moving. He wasn’t sure if he was back in his closet. He couldn’t trust the size of the bed he was in, the en suite bathroom to his left, or even Devon beside him. He had been fooled before.

He poked Devon in the thigh. Then he did it again and again and again until Devon was awake and looking at him. He didn’t say anything as Finn sat there. Finn kept poking him a dozen times. Paul would not have let him do that.

“It’s me,” Devon said. “I’m not going to change shapes. I can’t do that, remember?”

“Sure,” Finn said. He poked him a couple more times to be positive.

“How are you feeling?”

“Hungry,” Finn said, because that was always true. “But good?” He was waiting to hear what had happened before he made a definite declaration of his overall goodness or badness in general.

“Do you want some food?” Devon asked.

Finn slid next to him so that his bare skin could touch Devon. Whatever they’d been fighting about must have been huge. Devon hadn’t touched him since he woke up.

“Maybe in a bit?” He touched Devon’s body, as solid as it was, running his fingers over his rib cage. He traced the base pectoral muscles to his sternum. Finn ran his fingers all the way to Devon’s abdomen. Finn’s mark from that morning on the floor was still over Devon’s hip.

“What can I do for you?” Devon asked, taking up his hand under the blankets. They entangled, Finn kept trying to drag Devon’s down to his belly button and lower, but Devon kept things PG. Oh, wait. He forgot they were both guys. Heavy R, but not NC-17.

“I really want to go NC-17,” Finn said. Even without the context, Devon understood.

“What do you want?”

“Why do you keep asking me that?”

“You said you wanted it slow.”

“Did I?” Finn asked, scrunching up his face. That day was all a bit of a blur. There was the hospital, the parking lot, and then the shop. “You’re clean?”

“Did you think you dreamed that?”

“All the time,” Finn said.
