Chapter Six
Still Friday
Sex didnât happen. Devon stayed on his side of the table, and Finn felt too raw to suggest it. Devon had gone to bed early for once, leaving Finn at the computer. He didnât check his e-mail. He had Devon use the admin settings on the computer to block Finnâs e-mail. It was safer if he couldnât look at the dozens of angry messages from Paul.
He found himself staring at the 404 forbidden error blocking him from his ISPâs web mail site more and more the later it became. It usually kept him from Facebook and a game site Finn enjoyed spending time on.
When he ran out of Internet to read outside of his e-mail and had tried guessing Devonâs admin password incorrectly nine out of the ten times and didnât dare a tenth, he closed his computer and went to bed.
He fell asleep, but in the middle of his dream about going to school, his clothes kept unraveling.
Finn bolted up. The boat wasnât moving. He wasnât sure if he was back in his closet. He couldnât trust the size of the bed he was in, the en suite bathroom to his left, or even Devon beside him. He had been fooled before.
He poked Devon in the thigh. Then he did it again and again and again until Devon was awake and looking at him. He didnât say anything as Finn sat there. Finn kept poking him a dozen times. Paul would not have let him do that.
âItâs me,â Devon said. âIâm not going to change shapes. I canât do that, remember?â
âSure,â Finn said. He poked him a couple more times to be positive.
âHow are you feeling?â
âHungry,â Finn said, because that was always true. âBut good?â He was waiting to hear what had happened before he made a definite declaration of his overall goodness or badness in general.
âDo you want some food?â Devon asked.
Finn slid next to him so that his bare skin could touch Devon. Whatever theyâd been fighting about must have been huge. Devon hadnât touched him since he woke up.
âMaybe in a bit?â He touched Devonâs body, as solid as it was, running his fingers over his rib cage. He traced the base pectoral muscles to his sternum. Finn ran his fingers all the way to Devonâs abdomen. Finnâs mark from that morning on the floor was still over Devonâs hip.
âWhat can I do for you?â Devon asked, taking up his hand under the blankets. They entangled, Finn kept trying to drag Devonâs down to his belly button and lower, but Devon kept things PG. Oh, wait. He forgot they were both guys. Heavy R, but not NC-17.
âI really want to go NC-17,â Finn said. Even without the context, Devon understood.
âWhat do you want?â
âWhy do you keep asking me that?â
âYou said you wanted it slow.â
âDid I?â Finn asked, scrunching up his face. That day was all a bit of a blur. There was the hospital, the parking lot, and then the shop. âYouâre clean?â
âDid you think you dreamed that?â
âAll the time,â Finn said.
