Celeste

Oh my God.

We almost kissed.

We almost kissed.

We almost fucking kissed!

My heart pounds in my chest as I pretend to enjoy my meal, which probably tastes amazing, but all I can taste is the scent of all things Callan.

I’m drunk on his words and that is a very scary place to be.

I vowed I was celibate and single for the foreseeable future. After all the chaos, I came back to find myself and enjoy the peace.

I can’t fall for my ex, my high school sweetheart. Even if he is the man I should have been with all along.

Regret runs through my body like a shiver on a cold night. I can’t stop it.

His fucking words.

Is he just saying those things because he pities me?

Does he really mean it or is it because nostalgia is kicking in?

No. That isn’t Callan. He’d never say anything he didn’t mean. He’d never use me or treat me like anything but a lady. It’s just how he is.

But the way his eyes devoured me when we touched. Our closeness felt like electricity coursing through us as one.

I wet my lips, my breath labored and I know I’m feeling sensations where I shouldn’t.

I haven’t had sex with anyone since Anders. To say Callan is making me feel things down under is a complete understatement.

I mean, I’m not the ‘friends with benefits’ kinda girl, but for just one taste of that man… I groan inwardly as I try not to stare at him across the room.

He’s joking with Beau and Brooklyn and they’re all laughing.

Gabe and Gray are nowhere to be seen. I hope they didn’t continue their quarrel elsewhere, but to say things were a little tense just now is being kind.

I hate to see them argue. The family has always been close, but Gabe and Gray never really see eye to eye. Now Gray is back, I don’t know what the future looks like for the distillery and I guess that’s why Gabe is so upset. I'm certain their parents didn't intend for it to sound like Gray was coming back to take charge. That’s not how I heard it.

My eyes meet Callan’s across the room, and I look away quickly.

I can’t stand the heat I see in them. It makes me giddy.

It reminds me of when we were young and reckless and he could go forever and ever…

“The boathouse?” I pant as we kiss.

“Yeah, Sunshine, can’t wait to get home.”

“What if someone comes…”

He bites down on my bottom lip and growls, “Only ones comin’ around here are the two of us.”

“Oh.”

The boat sank and we’re all wet, but we don’t care. We just need to be closer…

He rips my button up blouse off; the buttons fly everywhere, and he groans when he sees my soaked bra. My nipples are hard and you can see right through the white material.

“Fuck, Cece.”

He bends and sucks one nipple into his mouth and I groan, running my hands into his wet hair.

“I need you,” I groan, then take in a sharp breath as he bites down harder.
