Roger

I looked at my sister standing in my bedroom and what she was referring to. I stared at the words written in bold red lipstick on my mirror.

‘FUCK YOU, Roger Day!’

“What are you doing here?” I asked.

She shrugged, “I can’t come and visit my big brother?”

I scoffed. “You’re just here to invade my life. You only want to know how I’m doing because of the scandal with Jessica.”

Bella chuckled. “Seems like you’re about to have another scandal.”

I cleaned the mirror as I glared at her.

“Were you alone when you arrived?”

She smirked. “Was I supposed to come with someone?”

I shrugged as I stared at my phone. I repeatedly tried calling Mandy, but it went straight to her voicemail.

I knew she was the one who’d written those words on my mirror. Why’d she write that? Did something else happen that I wasn’t aware of?

“What I meant to ask you was the Penthouse empty when you arrived?”

She nodded. “Yup, except for the blankets on the terrace, no one would know you had a romantic night.”

“Shut up, Bella,” I snapped.

“I know it’s Mandy. She’s the girl you met in Milan, right,” she smirked.

I ignored her and headed to the terrace to pick up the blankets. I inhaled them slowly, picking up Mandy’s scent.

“Wow, you’re even trying to memorize her scent,” Bella chuckled.

I jumped, startled as I saw her standing behind me. “Go to the family house, Bella. Leave me alone.”

Bella shrugged. “You’re my only brother. Why would I leave you alone?”

I remembered Stefan’s request and agreed to be his wingman. I headed back to my bedroom, hoping she wouldn’t follow. Well, she did and stood in the doorway looking in.

I placed the blankets on the bed and groaned inwardly. It’s been a while since I’ve had a sensitive conversation with Bella.

“Bella, do you have a moment?” I asked.

She entered the room. Curiosity was evident in her eyes. “Sure, Roger. What’s on your mind?”

I knew she wanted me to discuss Mandy with her. That’s why she seemed eager to know what I wanted to discuss. She’ll be surprised.

“I’ve been thinking about something lately. We’re lucky to have incredible people like Stefan in our lives.” I said casually, watching for any reaction.

Bella nodded, a hint of admiration in her expression. “Yeah, he’s terrific. I don’t know what we’d do without him. He’s always been there for us.”

I frowned. My sister looked whipped. She wasn’t always around, but I could tell she was smitten with Stefan. Could it be that they’ve been keeping tabs on each other?

How’s he always been there for you? The question was at the tip of my tongue to ask, but I restrained myself and stayed on course.

I smiled, trying to keep my tone casual. “That’s true. And you and Stefan seem to have such a great connection. I’ve noticed how well you get along. You effortlessly laugh when you’re together. It’s like you have this natural bond.”

Bella’s cheeks flushed slightly, but she remained composed. “Well, I guess we have a good friendship.
