Damien

I enter the silent house, my heart heavy and my mind tormented by thoughts of Aaliya and Gabe. After seeing my reaction to them together like that, Celia had smiled in delight. I just wanted to run away from her in that moment before she said something evil that would torment me more. Thankfully, her friend Samantha had called her back inside the party, convincing Celia to stay behind. I gladly left without her. I was devastated, my heart feeling heavy and cracked, and I just wanted to be alone. I asked Mike to drive aimlessly for a while until I finally decided to go home.

How could Aaliya move from me to him so quickly? Or was she always with him? Have I been right about her cheating nature all along? No! My memory flash earlier had been so vivid and the love I felt had been so true. Had all that changed between us? No. I’ve seen how she reacts to me. But has Gabe used my memory loss as a reason to get closer to Aaliya? Is that why he didn’t allow her to tell me the truth?

The urge to drown myself in more whiskey to escape this pain that is ripping me apart beats inside me and I head to the study where there is always a decanter of whiskey kept on hand.

I open the door and I’m transfixed by the sight of Aaliya standing on tiptoes, her delicious bottom straining against her sleep shorts as she strains to reach a book on the top shelf. My heart starts pounding like a hammer inside my ribcage, while my body hardens as I run my eyes over her scantily clad form, over those long legs that have fired my imagination ever since I’ve known her and that dark hair that flows like a cascading waterfall down her shoulders.

But then thoughts of Gabriel and her storm through my mind and I feel like a bucket of cold water has been doused over me. I close the door with a loud bang.

She leaps back in shock and the book falls from her hand as she turns, her hand on her heaving chest, her eyes round and frightened. The fear on her face dissipates when she spots me at the door.

“Oh! You gave me quite a fright!” she says with a shake of her head.

I walk towards her, my steps heavy and determined. Without a thought, my gaze coasts over her, taking in the strappy, red tank top, her chest heaving under it, her nipples straining against the fabric and I curse myself.

“Are you having an affair with Gabe?” I ask, unable to hold that inside me any longer. “Is that why you listened to him and didn’t tell me our truth? Or does he have a thing for you?”

“W...What?” she splutters, but then she recovers quickly to yell, “Have you gone mad? First you accuse me of being a bad mother and now you accuse me of cheating on you? What is wrong with you?”

I inch closer to her.
