0.15 Reach a trail junction north of a wash (GPS: N31 58.45' / W104 45.06'). Go right on Permian Reef Trail.

0.4 Trail makes sharp left turn at start of geology loop trail (GPS: N31 58.59' / W104 45.01'). Go left on main trail.

0.6 Upper junction with geology loop trail. Continue straight.

0.7 Reach the shaded Grottos (GPS: N31 59.05' / W104 45.16').

1.9 Cross limestone slabs (GPS: N31 59.37' / W104 45.27') on right side of big cliff.

2.2 Top of a ridge with views west into McKittrick Canyon.

3.0 Top of Camp Wilderness Ridge (GPS: N31 59.53' / W104 45.33') and end of the hike.

6.0 Arrive back at the trailhead.
