Journal Entry: The smell of lake water is mixed with the smell of gasoline. I see a green motorboat. Now the old lady has laid a freshly killed fish on some newspaper. She’s cutting it up. There’s a lot of blood and a strong fishy smell. The smell gets all mixed up with a cut on somebody’s hand. The hand is trembling. The cut is terrible, long and deep. Blood keeps flowing from the cut, dripping onto the floor. What floor? Not the floor of her cabin. This is another floor, another time. A cut hand. Cut hand.
