CHAPTER 12

Kristen

Waking up next to Cole once was an anomaly.

An anomaly with serious repercussions. Waking up next to him twice, though? What the hell was I thinking?

This was a habit that I refused to accept.

The man’s guest bedroom was one of the most lavish places I’d ever stayed in, but this bed? Oh, gosh, this bed was enough to win me over.

Its warmth surrounded me, cushioning every part of me like it knew exactly where I needed support. And that was just the bed. Not the mind-blowing sex that I’d now gotten a taste of more than once.

If I’d thought Vegas was a fluke, well, the parts I remembered at least, I had just been proven wrong. Cole was the only man I’d ever been able to come more than once with, and oh, the pure fabulousness of the rush of it.

I reached my hands down, touching myself and letting my head sink into the pillow. Glancing sideways, I saw the sheet barely covering Cole’s perfect-sized dick, while showing off his stupidly muscular body. My hips ached from the force of which he’d held them as he plunged into me.

I froze and immediately stopped.

What the hell was wrong with me? Freaking turning myself on in Cole Jackson’s bed? No! No.

I inhaled a quiet, but deep breath and steeled myself against remembering how extraordinary last night was.

Oh, lord, I’d almost forgotten about the man’s tongue, too.

No, not going there.

Cole’s soft snoring was what I focused on instead. Because I had to be at work sometime soon, I was sure. And this would all go a lot easier if I got out of here before he woke up.

Holding my breath, I maneuvered my feet so that they were hanging over the edge of the bed on my side. No, not my side. The side.

Sliding out as quietly as possible, I rose. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d snuck out of a place. Let alone a place I was now living in.

Thankfully, the door was open, and the house was so well built that my tiptoeing across the wooden floor didn’t cause any creaks.

It wasn’t until I was behind my own closed door that I felt comfortable making a small noise. Still, I moved quickly to grab my work clothes and creep to the guest bathroom. Getting out of the house without Cole waking was my next hurdle.

Cole was apparently a fairly heavy sleeper because I was able to take the quickest shower known to mankind, get dressed, get downstairs, and open and close the door without him stirring.

I hated not getting coffee before work, but there was no time. I’d make a strong twist on something as soon as I got to the Crucible.

Normally, I was the first one at work, but two out of three of my coworkers beat me in today.

“Look what the cat dragged in,” my friend Staci said, nudging into me as I opened the swinging door to get behind the bar.

My other coworker, Nadia, stood up from where she was doing inventory so fast that she knocked over two syrup bottles.
