Monday, our last day, is somber although good. We spend most of it together but neither of us talk about what’s next or if or how a relationship will work. There’s too much still unresolved in our lives. Well, in my life.

Claire has decided to go back to the residency program as if nothing happened. It’s a mistake and I’ve tried telling her so, but her mind is set. She feels better and insists the panic attack was a one-time deal. It’s behind her.

She’s lying to herself, and as much as I hate it for her, I get it. It’s one of those things where if you think positively then it’ll be so. I only hope for her sake that’s the case.

For our last night together, she sleeps with me in the master bedroom. We do nothing more than kiss and make out. She wants more but I won’t go there, all the way, until there’s a way for us to be together.

I fall asleep with her in my arms and it’s perfect. This is Claire and just being with her, no matter how, is everything.
