The blade that I could’ve retrieved is my only hope of escape from here. I should’ve known this day would come. I should’ve been better prepared.

I recollect all that I had seen before, when the light was on. I feel and find food in front of me. I feel the plate. It’s the same china with tiny apples engraved on it. Just like last time.

I touch and feel the food. Its bread and jam. I don’t eat it because I know it’s drugged. I will eat, but a little later.

I walk up to the door and try to peak through the tiny crevices. It is pitch black outside so I am not able to distinguish between anything. I slide the blade through the crack, hoping to find an obstruction somewhere.

There. The lock.

I return back to the room and look around, which is pointless, as I cannot make out things in the dark.

My mind keeps churning for ideas and right now, with my stomach growling for food, I have none.

So I eat.

I literally swallow everything that is there. I find a glass of water next to the plate. I chug the water in.

Full, I lie down on the mattress, waiting for sleep to take over me. But, I can’t sleep.

The food isn’t drugged.

Maybe my abductor trusts me enough to know that I won’t attempt to run away.

Or maybe the voice is confident this time. Afterall, practice makes a human perfect.

And experience? It can make you achieve wonders.

So I sit on the bed, hoping for my abductor to come back as my escape only lies in experienced hands.

I find myself humming the same lullaby and soon enough, the door opens and the lights go on.

“Have you eaten, Cassie?”

I nod.

“I want to take you somewhere.”

Take me?

“Would you want to go?”

“Only if you want me to go.”

“I do.”

“Then I will.”

“Come here.”

I drag my tired feet towards my abductor, looking for an opportunity.

“There, come on. Follow me.”

I slowly walk, following the voice, trying to soak in the surroundings. There is nothing. Just walls everywhere. The room is the same as last time, but the exterior? Different.

Of course, this isn’t DC. Hopefully.

I continue following my abductor and finally stop outside a white door.

“Open it.”

“Are you sure?” I ask, trembling.

“Yes.”

I open the door.

The entire room is filled with drawings on the walls, with pastel. I look around and find that the entire shopping mall of DC, which I had visited with my mom, has been replicated here, in those drawings.

Also, I find some small figures drawn with pencil.

“I added them later.” My abductor explains. “That one’s your mom. That is Jeff. This one’s Zack.”

I stare at them indefinitely, my eyes brimming with tears.

“You know Zack yelled at your mother today. I was watching through the window.”

The voice starts walking around the room.

“I was angry. But then, I think your mom deserved it. After all, both of you have been hiding me from the world for a very long time.”

“Did she reveal?” I ask.

My abductor simply stares back at me.
