“Serena,” my heart started to flutter when I heard him say my name. Just like It did when he said it while my lips were on his neck.

“Alwin.” I spoke. Trying to hide the nervousness in my voice.

“I was told you have progressed amicably while I was away.” We both started circling the map. Keeping our distance but I could feel the tension rising between us. “And last night. You burned down your room. Why is that?”

“I was angry.” He smirked at me. I could not tell whether it was smug or not.

“Do you prefer my bedchambers?” I stopped. And then there he was. I felt his breath against my neck again. I couldn’t stop my heart from pounding. “I have missed you while I was away. I remembered your lips,” he kissed my neck, “the feel of your hands on my body.” He grabbed my waist.

“Stop it!” I stepped away from him. Turned and his face was full of disappointment. “I am not some plaything. You cannot toy with me.”

“Is that what you think I am doing here? Toying with you?” I saw hurt in his eyes.

“Well, you are older. I am sure you have had many women share your sheets with you.” He let out a sigh.

“Serena, I have never even kissed anyone until you.” My ears couldn’t believe it. “If you don’t trust me. Then ask whomever you want. I will ask a Confessor to use her power just to prove it to you.”

“I barely know you Alwin. Are you the Dark Elf?” he stepped closer, I stepped back.

“Alright. No. My Father was given that title because of the terrible things he did.”

“How old are you?”

“225 years old.”

“Why don’t you age?”

“Because once pixies reach the age of twenty-five, they stop aging.”

“So your Mother was a pixie?”

“Now who is playing games?”

“I am just trying to know you.”

“Yes. My Father bewitched her into his bed. She was killed when I was a child.” His voice trembled while speaking. “My Father tried to raise me to be a bad man. But, I ran away. I didn’t want to be like him.”

“Alwin,” he stepped towards me. I didn’t move this time.

“With your permission, I would like to kiss you.” I nodded and he kissed me. It was a soft kiss. “Serena, I would never hurt you. What your friend said...”

“Ex-friend.”

“It isn’t true. Well the part about me.” I believed him. There was still a seed of doubt in me. He held me tight as if I was going to run away. I felt safe in his arms and it scared me.

“Alwin!” Odith came bursting in the doors. Fear on her face.

“What is it?” he asked letting me go.

“We are under attack!”
